A Delightful Donation to Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity
David Austin Roses are delighted to attend 30th anniversary event to present £100,000 cheque
Here at David Austin Roses, we are passionate about the ways in which we can support charities and organisations that positively impact the mental and physical wellbeing for all. Therefore, in 2016, to mark the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth, we were proud to launch our Roald Dahl English Shrub and Standard Rose in support of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
We pledged to donate £100,000 to the wonderful charity, and we are delighted that through donations from the sale of each of these roses, we have achieved our target. Gloriously peach in colour, the Roald Dahl Shrub and Standard Rose immediately brings to mind the eponymous peach in James & The Giant Peach, one of Roald Dahl’s best loved novels. Now one of our most loved varieties, these roses have helped to provide funding for a nursing post for a year and around 65 often life changing grants.
We were delighted to be able to present Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity with their cheque for the £100,000 at their 30th anniversary event on 12th October 2021. It was an honour to be in the presence of the Founder and President Felicity Dahl and the Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse Stacey Radcliff, who explained the direct impact our donation will have on their patients, and their families, lives.
FIND OUT MOREThe charity was created in Roald Dahl’s memory by his wife, Felicity who continued Roald’s commitment to helping support seriously ill children and their families. Sales of the Roald Dahl English Shrub Rose from 2016 – 2019 were donated to the charity in support of the incredible work they do and the positive impact they have on so many lives.
