Description

('Phoebe's Frilled Pink', 'Dianthiflora'). Clusters of pretty, scented, light pink flowers, their petals fringed at the edges, in the manner of a pink. Similar to the Grootendorst varieties but more refined in appearance. Rather less robust than most Rugosas. Morlet, 1891.

Flowering: Repeat Flowering REPEAT or ONCE FLOWERING? REPEAT FLOWERING roses flower in flushes from late spring through to early winter. ONCE FLOWERING roses only produce a single flush of blooms lasting 3 to 4 weeks in mid summer

Rugosa Roses

These large shrubs are hybrids of R. rugosa and various garden roses. They are generally very beautiful and fragrant; their blooms varying from single to fully double. Most varieties are repeat-flowering and some bear large hips in the autumn. Rugosas are extremely hardy and disease resistant, and will thrive in poor sandy soils and coastal areas - even growing on sand dunes. They are usually very thorny; ideal for creating impenetrable hedges.
