Pruning roses is a subject which often raises great debate. At David Austin Roses, we believe that pruning roses should be a simple, enjoyable and creative process. That's why we created our Pruning Sessions, the ideal gift for any gardener who would like help to get the very best out of their roses.

WHY SHOULD I PRUNE?

English Roses are naturally vigorous and if left without pruning may become large and leggy shrubs. The main purpose of pruning is to create a shapely, attractive shrub, with good structure. This process also encourages fresh new growth.

During the half-day morning or afternoon sessions, we will share simple tips on how to prune, create shapely shrubs and control the height of the more vigorous English Roses. No prior knowledge is required, as we will guide you step by step through the process.

We ask each attendee to bring outdoor clothing as some of the talk will be held in the garden. Light refreshments will be provided. We hold all our pruning sessions during January and February each year, as this is the best time to prune.
