A Rose with Family at its Heart
Sir David Beckham is a rose shaped by warmth, beauty and enduring connection. Rooted in a family story, it carries a quiet strength, unfolding with the soft, timeless charm of the English garden.
Created to mark a milestone year and inspired by a touching request from Harper for her father’s 50th birthday, this remarkable new English Shrub Rose is rooted in something deeply meaningful, a living symbol of family, resilience and enduring love. Yet beyond the story behind its name, Sir David Beckham is, above all, a rose of great garden beauty and presence.
The journey of this new variety began when Sir David celebrated his milestone 50th birthday. His daughter, Harper, reached out to us with a vision for a truly unique gift: a rose that would reflect her father’s love for the British countryside and the quiet hours they share together in the family garden.
Harper’s request was for something enduring. Rather than a gift for the moment, she imagined a rose that would grow alongside their family, returning faithfully season after season and deepening in beauty with every passing year.
We immediately connected with this sentiment. As a family business carried forward through generations, we understand that a rose is more than just a plant; it is a living symbol of continuity and shared memories. It reflects that simple, shared joy of being outdoors and the strength found in family bonds.
From soft blush buds emerge luminous white blooms, delicately brushed with pale pink and hints of yellow.
Versatile, generous and effortlessly elegant, Sir David Beckham lends itself beautifully to a range of garden settings.
In mixed borders, its luminous blooms soften surrounding planting with ease. As a flowering hedge, it creates rhythm and continuity. Grown as a specimen, it offers a poised yet natural focal point. Reaching approximately 1.2m by 0.9m, it is substantial enough to make an impact, while retaining an openness that allows it to sit harmoniously within wider planting schemes.
Its open, pollen-rich flowers also make it especially valuable for bees and pollinators, bringing movement and life as well as beauty.
The Sir David Beckham rose has been created in partnership with The King’s Foundation, for which Sir David Beckham serves as an ambassador. As part of this collaboration, a donation from each rose sale is made to the nature and sustainability charity, supporting its work nurturing communities and celebrating heritage crafts.
Founded by His Majesty King Charles III, The King’s Foundation is dedicated to building more sustainable communities and strengthening the relationship between people and the environment. Through education and practical training, the charity champions traditional skills, from architecture to horticulture, that might otherwise be lost to time.
The Foundation’s work is rooted in the belief that beauty and craftsmanship have an important place in everyday life. Whether they are restoring historic skills or encouraging nature-inspired learning, they help people of all ages reconnect with the value of growing and caring for the world around them.
It is a philosophy of stewardship and long-term thinking that resonates deeply with our own approach here in Shropshire. Just as the Foundation protects traditional crafts, we shape every David Austin® rose slowly over many years with patience, expertise, and care.

Rose breeding, much like the work of the Foundation, is guided by a respect for the natural environment. It is about creating something enduring. The Sir David Beckham rose celebrates these shared ideals, bringing together heritage, nature, and the quiet artistry that lies behind both a well-tended garden and a masterfully executed craft.
Sir David Beckham is a rose with many stories still to unfold.
